At 5am Asher woke me up by whispering in my ear (one of those loud, hot, too-close kid whispers): “Mom? Are you going back to sleep? Cause I’m not.”
And true to his word, it’s been an hour and my energetic little guy is still wiggling and thrashing in bed next to me. He does sometimes pause in his acrobatics to stroke my cheek and give me a kiss. Sometimes he snuggles quietly for a minute. And sometimes he says in a reassuring voice, “Mom, I think it’s almost morning now.”
Asher has always been my earliest riser and the truth is, it’s kinda cute. I guess it’s cute because it’s just a part of him, like his crazy hair and jovial personality. Plus, waking up to my boy every morning (even if it’s early) isn’t a bad way to start the day.
