Reinforcements have arrived!
Rick’s parents came into town last night and they will be here to help out until tomorrow. Whew! It’s nice to have some extra help, to not feel pressure to do things myself, and to take some of the load off of my kids as well. The kids are still helping out with things like dishes and picking up toys, but I’m glad that they don’t need to do everything themselves. Plus, they are super excited to spend time with Grandma and Grandpa! I am very thankful for their help right now.
We’ll have Wednesday with just the kids and me, and then my parents will arrive on Thursday and be here through the weekend. I am excited to see them and excited to have their help, for all the same reasons… help for me and the kids, and it’s a nice change of pace for my kids as well. They are looking forward to double visits with grandparents this week. What lucky kids! All of this extra help is especially nice because Rick is working new hours at his new position this week.
Physically, I am feeling okay. My contractions have increased a lot over the last few days. Two nights ago was rough, with intense contractions every 2-10 minutes and miserable back pain that didn’t let up between contractions. I felt awful and couldn’t find relief and Rick kept asking me to please not be in labor. Last night contractions were about 5 minutes apart, but not nearly as intense so it didn’t worry me as much. I feel like my body is getting ready so I really hope it can hold out for one more week.
Baby Boy is as active as ever. He gets the hiccups frequently, which is reassuring because I was told that hiccups are great for lung development. I am excited to meet this little fellow… but hopefully not for at least another week.
Rick bought two new space heaters this week. So even though our heater still isn’t fixed, we are finally warm again! We had a few really, really cold days when our inside temperature dropped to about 40 degrees and only got up to 50 degrees during the warmest part of the day. Brrr, we were freezing. I am very thankful for these two space heaters (now we have three altogether). Our heater should be fixed this week as well.
I’ve found carpools for Maddie and Brenna to cheer and gymnastics this week, and Rick can take Joshua to his wrestling practices in the evening. He will also be able to take Josh to his tournament on Saturday. On Sunday, our nephew is being blessed and I really hope that my OB will give me the green light to attend. If not, Rick and the kids will go without me.
Braden has a rec center wrestling tournament tonight. Rick is going to take him and then the two of them are going out for a special date together. We try to give all the kids one-on-one time with Mommy and Daddy, and Braden needs more time and attention and reassurance right now than the others do. I think they are going to share a stack of pancakes and some hot chocolate at IHOP. Braden is really looking forward to tonight.

I bet that is so nice to have some extra help!! How wonderful! As I was reading about your contractions that you’ve had these last few nights……oh the memories the night I went to the hospital pregnant with Eva just not 35 weeks pregnant. You are doing such a wonderful job…..Kudos to you!! I’ve been praying for you and your sweet little guy for weeks now. Heavenly Father sure does have a plan for your little miracle. Love ya Lady! Take care
