Fruit Cravings

By withasmile

Between the heat and my heartburn I find myself with very little appetite these days. So when I began to crave some fresh fruit tonight, the kids and I went straight to Costco to buy some. Costco has these wonderful, large trays of mixed fruit and that was exactly what I wanted.

After purchasing $25 worth of fruit trays, we headed back out to the van. I buckled the kids in and then loaded the fruit trays into the back of the van. I had hardly eaten anything earlier in the day so I stood right there in the parking lot, opened the fruit, and began shoveling it into my mouth like it was my last meal. I was so hungry that I didn’t feel self concious at all as I stuffed my face, figuring that my round, pregnant tummy certainly would speak for itself. Nor did I feel even the tiniest bit guilty when the kids all began to cry out, “Mama, what are you doing back there? Mama, what are you doing? Did you open the fruit? Are you eating fruit? Mama? Can we have some? Are you eating fruit?” Even little Braden chimed in on the interoggation, calling, “Mama, doing? Fruit? Eat? Mama?”

I did share some fruit with the kids once we got home. After all, I can’t eat $25 worth of fruit all by myself…

Can I? :)
