Well, apparently our Joshua was born to wrestle! He is a natural! Tonight was his first wrestling practice. He was the youngest in the group and the shortest as well. But he did great!
Most of practice was warming up, stretching and practicing moves. But at the end, the boys got to actually wrestle a bit. The idea was that two boys would wrestle, but just past the point of a take-down. Then the kid who’d made the take-down would remain in the circle for another round and the other child would sit out until his turn came up again. There were seven little boys around Joshua’s weight class so they practiced together. The boys only had each 1-2 rounds in the circle, the one they started with and maybe a second one before someone would take them down.
Then Joshua’s turn came. He took down all six boys without ever having to leave the ring and he actually pinned four of them! So rather than taking a turn and then sitting out again, he wrestled through every single one of the other boys in his group and beat them all.
He didn’t seem to even notice his sore foot during practice but afterwards it bothered him more than ever. He still loved wrestling though and can’t wait to go back!
